NADAV BARNEA
Nadav Barnea (born 1987) is a multidisciplinary artist, a musician and a lighting designer.
As a lighting designer, Barnea worked with many prominent theater directors, choreographers and musicians in independent frameworks as well as within the top theaters, Opera houses, and art institutions in Israel and abroad and established himself as a leading light designer.
In 2019/22 alone he designed light to Batsheva Dance Company, unique theater productions such as The Constant Mourner by Hanoch Levin directed by Ari Folman at the Cameri Theater, Created music and light for VÖGEL by Wajdi Mouawad Directed by Itay Tiran at the Burgtheater Vienna and designed the light for Requiem by Hanoch Levin directed by Yair Sherman in Beijing and many more...
As a musician and sound designer, Barnea has written soundtracks for dance and theater pieces as well as for television and films. Barnea was the composer for Ohad Naharin’s piece 2019 and In 2017 was the sound advisor for Naharin’s work Venezuela both created for the Batsheva Dance Company.
In the last three years Barnea created light and sound installations that were presented within group multidisciplinary exhibitions such
as Censorship, The Art to Survive and Protest in Aza13 in Jaffa.
His first theatrical-installation piece, Pa’am, was presented in 2016 within the framework of Acco Theatre Festival . In Pa’am Barnea creates a fascinating and compelling narrative of the complexity of the human condition, where light, video, images, sound and the human voice fill the stage and create a whole and unique experience.
The piece toured in europe and received raving reviews and continues to run in Israel.
In 2020, he presented his own work at the Israel Festival "The Dreamers.".
In 2021, Barnea won the Theater Designer of the Year Award.
